Name of Nominee:  Craig Hart
Public Name:  Katie Benard
City:  Goodrich
State:  MI
School or Address of Nominee:  Goodrich Area Schools
Describe why the nominee should win:  Mr. Hart came to the rescue of the GHS Student Council. When we were short a bus driver to a leadership conference, Mr. Hart jumped in a bus and drove us to East Lansing so the students wouldn't miss out on our trip. While in East Lansing, Mr. Hart was pooled with the other bus drivers from school districts across the state. Mr. Hart came to the rescue of TWO school districts, repairing their busses while all of our students were at their conference. Mr. Hart was reluctant to tell me about his good deeds as this is what Mr. Hart does, regularly. Once we got home from our conference, Mr. Hart jumped on a bus again and took our volleyball teams to their games in Durand. He definitely was a superhero, and is every single day.

Name of Nominee:  Eric Clauder
Public Name:  Rittmueller Parent
City:  Birch Run
State:  MI
School or Address of Nominee:  Rittmueller Middle School, Frankenmuth
Describe why the nominee should win:  My daughter wanted to nominate Mr. Clauder for the Golden Apple Award. He teaches eight grades of band at EF Rittmueller middle school and Frankenmuth High School, which is 5th through 12th grade. This means that he sees a lot of kids every day. Mr. Clauder is very kind and is patient with his students. If anyone is ever stuck, or is confused about something, he will help them until they figure the answer out. Mr. Clauder teaches musical skills that give every child opportunities. This means that the kids he teaches have great opportunities to participate in musical events, or to learn great artistic skills. While my daughter and her classmates still learn a lot in his class, Mr. Clauder likes to have fun. He is always telling jokes, or playing games with them. On any day, he can make anyone laugh. In addition to teaching at school, during the summer he likes to help teach for a week at Camp Timbers in West Branch. Here, he teaches a specific group of instruments from three different bands. My daughter has gone to the camp for two years, and she loves to have him as a teacher there as well. Mr. Clauder is a great teacher, and I am glad my daughter gets to be one of his students. For this reason, he should be considered for the Golden Apple Award.
